Photographers

Photographers are essential when it comes to creating images that represent the brand and what the brand is trying to portray. The photographers are often attached to the brand and must travel around the world to capture each important moment.

For example, to maintain authenticity to their brand, Adidas must find out where and how the world is living to create the best possible brand.

They try to find answers to: What do the kids are doing? What types of shoes do they need to buy? What types of activities are they doing?

It is so difficult to make sure that this is authentic, that they can use the data that they’re gaining about these real people to create the best possible shoe that will be the best fit for their lifestyle.

A large market of photography are for special events (such as weddings, engagements, or graduations) or for personal (family portraits, individual portraits) or industry reasons (fashion, makeup).

Being hired by a company can give a large range of assignments, so specialization may be needed.

Advertising

Many artists think of the arts as an art form of self-expression.

Artists aren't the only artists. There are also lots of different jobs that involve creating advertising or in other words designing the brand that you see around you on a regular basis.

Some of these jobs pay over 100k, others pay considerably less, but all of these jobs need great art skills. A great artist for advertising is essential to successful ad campaigns.

Animation

This is the obvious choice for most people who want to get into the industry.

It’s hard work and you have to stay focused on your task. It is a field that has high responsibility in terms of the quality of your work. Animators are responsible for many components of the finished project so there is a high level of workload.

Commercials

Commercials are a diverse field. You can make your own or work for big companies such as Adidas.

The biggest payday is for game makers. I was an animator for many commercial projects which paid me between $20k and $25k for about 6 months.

Commercials make companies large amounts of revenue, so commercial artists are well-regarded.

Web Design

The website design profession is a skill that anyone can learn in the age of the internet.

There are a lot of companies that hire web designers as freelancers. It’s also a good field for self-employed people as most people earn more money this way.

The median yearly salary is about $50k, but some places pay much higher.

Game Design

This is another job that is very similar to the first.

It’s a hobby that can be a great source of income. There are lots of opportunities for personal projects and online game developers.

The biggest paycheck is usually for established developers and for established games/game systems. Similarly to animation, this job requires lots of responsibility to undertake the workload.

Graphic Design

This profession is fairly new. It is still growing because there are lots of companies that hire graphic designers to make their business look appealing.

It’s an art in itself and I would say it’s the hardest for people who want to be professionals. There are a lot of jobs but the most lucrative are in the freelance industry.

A lot of people earn from $50k to $100k in just one year. The best way to become a graphic designer is to complete graphic design school and/or courses, as those with a degree in graphic design usually make more money.

Freelance Photography

Photography is my personal favorite because I can get paid for what I love doing the most.

It’s a very stressful job as you need to be technically proficient. However, many people make a living off of it and many start a career in it because of the many opportunities.

There are some jobs where you can get paid $300 or more per hour. Find your niche market and get clicking.

Business Development

This is a very popular job now because everyone needs it in our online-dominated world.

You can take on this type of job if you’re good at it and you enjoy networking. The median yearly salary is about $90k.

Photoshop / Illustrator

This is a very popular job. If you’re good at it, you can earn $110k+ annually.

However, it’s very technical so you need to be good at math and programming.

Illustration / Comics

It’s a very technical field that relies on skills like penciling, inking, and color.

There are a lot of people who make a living off of this. This is a hobby job where you can make as much as $25k to $50k a year.

Video Editing

This is a very popular job among freelancers.

You can get paid as much as $40k per month. The hardest part of this job is choosing good photos.

Photo Sculpting

This is the least lucrative field of them all. It involves producing photos that people would like to get. You have to create compelling photos but it’s hard to get people to buy what you’re selling.

It pays about $10-$20 per sale.

Illustration

Illustrating is a very popular job among illustrators. They create art based on words or photos. It’s a good job if you have an artistic eye. It pays about $30-40 per sale.
