In this article, we will talk about what is architecture. We will also discuss whether or not Queen’s University has it. It seems like they don't, but there are some parts of their campus that look architect designed!
Architecture can be described as creating environments and spaces for people to enjoy and spend time in. Architects use concepts such as proportion, color theory, and mathematics to help design these enjoyable places.
There are three main branches of architectural practice: urban planning, interior decoration, and building construction. Urban planners work with governments to make sure facilities such as hospitals, schools, and libraries have enough space to function properly, while interior designers create decorations and furniture for buildings and homes.
Building constructors build things such as houses or offices. They may do this for commercial purposes (like constructing a restaurant) or personal ones (like designing your own house). Some architects focus more on one area than another, making it their speciality.
Queen’s University seems to lack an overall department focused on architecture. However, they do have several individuals who specialize in different areas. This could mean that someone in Facilities Management designs new facilities, or that someone in Graphic Design creates logos and posters.
This article will describe which departments at Queen’s seem to indicate that they do not have architecture, and why this is probably false information.

Like any major university, QUEEN’s UNIVERSITY has some incredible architectural landmarks that set them apart from other institutions. Some of these buildings are known for their beauty while others have made an impact due to their function or influence.
Many students may not know who some of the important alumni include, but they certainly recognize their work. A few well-known examples of this is The Globe Theatre in London and MIT’s Silo Building, both designed by Charles Brigham.
Brigham was one of the first professional architects to use steel as a structural material and he heavily influenced the future generation of designers. His work is characterized by clean lines and strong shapes which make it easy to identify his style.
Another famous architect at QUEEN’s is Edward Cullinan. He built many impressive structures around campus including several academic buildings and student residences. One of his most recognizable projects is the Student Centre next to Stirling College.
This building features curved roofs which create open spaces within the structure and connect different parts of the school together. Cullinan also experimented with using glass as a cost effective way to organize space.

Like many universities, Queen’s does not have an architecture school, but it does have some famous alumni who are considered masters of their craft.

The field of architecture is very diverse, with many different types of professionals involved in creating buildings and landscapes. Some people go into it as professional builders, while others work more creatively, designing spaces and experimenting with new styles.
Architects are usually focused on one thing at a time, however they may also have to deal with several things all at once- such as organizing building projects, keeping up with business tasks, meeting deadlines, and negotiating with other professionals (such as interior designers or engineers).
Some well known architects include Renzo Piano, who designed the Tate Modern museum in London, and César Pelli, who built some of the most recognizable skyscrapers in the world. Both of these men create beautiful works that appeal to both aesthicists and pragmatist.
Another architect worth mentioning is Frank Gehry, who has been creating interesting shapes and environments for decades! He designed the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, which was heavily criticized but still receives huge amounts of attention. His style is unique and memorable, making his works appealing to many.

Modernist architects believe that form follows function, and therefore their buildings use bold shapes and asymmetrical layouts to emphasize how functional they are. Materials such as glass, steel, and concrete play an important role in defining the style of the architect.
Modernism was very popular between the 1920s and 1970s. It left behind a legacy of famous skyscrapers and sleek train stations. Many people associate this style with big cars and flashy clothes!
These types of designs usually focus on functionality over appearance, which is why there are so many tall thin structures. For example, the Chrysler Corporate Headquarters in Detroit uses a square base structure surrounded by large windows for efficiency.
The most well-known designers who practice modern styles include Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. All three designed striking office towers and residential homes that have become recognizable symbols of the style.

Contemporary architectural theory focuses on how space, structure, material, and programming influence our perception of buildings. These concepts are often discussed in relation to larger spaces or structures, such as houses or office buildings.
However, there is another type of building that goes beyond this by incorporating these theoretical principles while also exploring new ways to apply them. This type of design is called “contemporary architecture”.
A recent example of contemporary architecture can be seen at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in Toronto. The CCA was designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind.
Libeskind incorporated several theories of modern architecture into his work, including the use of light and shadow, floating forms, and asymmetrical layouts. He also used large expanses of glass to give viewers a view of the surrounding area.
Another important feature of his work is its integration with the natural environment. For instance, he placed green roofs throughout the facility so that users could enjoy nature even when the main doors were closed.

Historical architectural styles are categorized into several different categories, such as Neoclassical, Renaissance, Gothic, Château style, etc.
All of these styles were influenced by Ancient Greece and Rome, two very powerful cultures in human history. Some examples of classical buildings include the Parthenon in Athens, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and The Vatican in Rome.
Historical styles like those mentioned above are considered “traditional” or “classical” because they adopt concepts that have been around for a while. For example, the classic five-pointed arch was used during the Roman Empire and can still be seen today at places like Buckingham Palace or St Peter’s Cathedral.
Other historic styles incorporated new ideas that evolved over time, making them look unique. A good example of this would be the tall arches built by Romans after the use of the traditional four-point arch faded out. These vertical arches resembled ladders, creating interesting patterns and shapes.
We could also talk about how some styles seem to disappear completely, only to make a comeback later. An example of this would be the Gothic style, which became popular once more during the Middle Ages. It then made its way back into popularity in the late 19th century with the rise of Christianity.
There are many theories as to why certain styles vanish from the face of the earth, but none that prove true forever.
The Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto is one of Canada's most well-known museums, with its collection spanning all periods and styles of art. It boasts works by Van Gogh, Monet, Gauguin, Picasso, Chagall, Kandinsky, and many others.
The AGO was founded in 1965 to showcase Canadian artists and has since grown into a globally recognized institution. Since then it has welcomed more than 20 million visitors from around the world.
But the AGO isn't just about famous names, you have to look beyond what might be considered "high culture" pieces to appreciate the museum as a whole. There are several reasons for this!
Interpretive galleries give context to important works outside of showcasing an artist's style or technique. For example, there's a gallery dedicated to how media like photography, film, and digital imaging influenced artistic expression. These emerging forms of mediums are sometimes overlooked, but they play a big part in our lives today.
Other interactive displays explore different facets of the organization, such as how staff members work and why certain positions exist. This gives us insight into the inner workings of the AGO and the wider field of architecture and design.

Canadian architect Frank Lloyd Wright was one of architecture’s greatest masters. He designed buildings that have influenced many other architects, including his contemporaries who studied under him at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Wright is well known for using organic shapes to create spaces within his designs. For example, his famous Guggenheim Museum has an undulating, flowing shape that creates a sense of flow through the space.
Many believe that his use of this style made way for later architects to use more fluid forms in their own work. In fact, some say it inspired people to design buildings with natural curves and flows since we are all shaped differently.
However, not everyone agrees that he had significant influence on others. Some claim that his styles were simply too unique and distinctive to be copied.
