Like any other skill, being an architect requires practice to develop your skills. As we already mentioned before, practicing architecture is looking at lots of pictures and models of buildings – clearly not very practical!
Luckily for you, there are many ways to get more practice as an aspiring architect. You can take design courses, participate in architectural competitions or events, work with professionals, and/or do projects yourself.
This article will talk about some easy ways to gain experience as an amateur architect while also giving you tips and tricks for becoming a successful professional designer. So let’s dive in!

Architecture is a beautiful creative career that pays well
If you love designing new structures and watching them grow, then learning how to draw and studying architecture are great things to pursue.
Many people start off doing art studies like painting or drawing, and move onto studying business so they can become architects later.

When humans started building, they did not have very specific goals. They built for functional purposes only- to live in or use their structures as shelter, to eat in them, to gather in them, etc.
As time passed, people began putting more emphasis on how beautiful their buildings were. This is where aesthetics comes from.
Architecture was mostly conceptualized as someone who designed roofs and walls. Famous architects such as Leonardo Da Vinci are known for designing windows and doors.
But today’s architects go beyond that! They design entire neighborhoods, skyscrapers, and even space stations!
Modern day architects strive to make their designs express what it is like to be human. They want to inspire others by showing off the beauty of shapes, proportions, and systems that work well.
These qualities contribute heavily to the way we perceive nature and the universe. Natural forms feel good to us, and learning about this feeling is an important part of architectural theory.
History is also filled with stories of powerful men making large scale changes through architecture. These include builders, politicians, and world leaders. Some made war weapons, some influenced culture, some just left a legacy behind.
Interior and exterior spaces play a significant role in shaping our perception of the surrounding area and the space within ourselves.
The best architects understand this and create aesthetically pleasing interior and external environments. An architect should always aim to create experiences that influence others.

There are many different types of architectural styles, some more popular than others. Each style has its own look and feel that make it unique!
Many believe that architects use certain styles as a way to conceal their lack of skill or creativity. This is not true at all!
Different styles emerge due to various reasons, but mostly because people have different aesthetics.
Some like very clean looks with lots of white space, for example. Others enjoy strong colors such as red, yellow, and blue.
Others prefer simple shapes, whereas others go in more complex directions. Aesthetic differences are what makes art so beautiful — why not apply this concept to buildings?
This article will talk about several major architectural styles and how they develop.

Another important part of architecture is its shape. There are many different types of shapes that architects use in their designs. Some common shapes include squares, rectangles, ovals, triangles, circles, and other polygons.
Triangle roofs are very popular because they resemble the way human beings have got rid of body heat by curving our backs to keep warm. Squares and pyramids also bear some resemblance to this concept. The gothic style is an example of using curved shapes. This style was inspired by natural curves and lines in nature.
The neoclassical style uses straight lines and rectangular structures with proportionate sizes of windows and doors. Modern styles use asymmetrical shapes or ones that do not follow any rules of classical proportions. These include what people call “bubble” houses, which have rounded corners instead of sharp angles.
I will now be talking about one specific type of building shaped like a circle. It is called a dome. Domed buildings were most famously used as roof decorations during ancient Rome.

Starting with its exterior, an architect shapes how people interact with their environment. This includes things like whether it is a glass wall or brick facade, what colors are used, if there are signs or decorations, etc.
The interior of a building is where most of the activity happens, so his/her style can have a big impact. For instance, a bright color scheme and natural light can make a room feel cozy and welcoming.
Architects also choose materials for the space, such as bricks or wood to create a feeling that something important will last.
And finally, they determine how spaces connect with each other, creating flow and circulation. A well-designed house leaves you lots of places to go, and feels organized and seamless.

A basic tool in any designer’s repertoire is the element, or shape. An element can be something as simple as an ellipse for circle shapes, a rectangle for square ones, or a triangle for triangles. More complex examples are logos, which are just one specific type of element (the logo shape).
Logos and other types of elements add value to a product by establishing a structure, framework, or look that people recognize and use to evaluate the product. Logos particularly influence how people perceive a company because they associate the shape with the brand.
Architecture is no exception to this rule. As we have discussed before, great architecture leaves its impression on you– it changes how you feel about space, and your perception of time. These effects are not always positive, but overall they make you think about spaces and times differently.
Great architectural styles also leave a legacy behind. They continue to inspire new architects who admire their formal qualities and unique perspectives.
All these things contribute to creating an effect on the viewer. It is part of what makes a style special and memorable.

The term “architect” comes from the greek word arch, which means to frame or cover. An architect is someone who designs or creates buildings or architectural frames for spaces.
Architects typically work either independently or in collaboration with other professionals such as interior designers, graphic design artists, engineers, and builders. Some architects have their own firm, while others are hired by business or government clients to oversee construction of a project.
There are three main types of architectures: classical, modern, and contemporary. A classic architecture style is Gothic, which was popular during the Christian era. Ancient Greek and Roman structures embody classical architecture.
Modern architecture is sometimes referred to as "post-modern." This includes styles like Art Deco, Brutalist, Minimalist, and Neoclassical. These all play off of traditional forms and materials but add new features and touches.
A Contemporary architecture style is what people refer to as today's trends. For example, taking away some of the decoration and emphasizing raw material qualities is considered part of this genre.
These genres can be mixed together to create newer, more unique styles.
