Having an architecture background is helpful in many different career paths, whether you are seeking employment as an interior designer, furniture design professional, or architect yourself. Being able to identify good architectural styles and being familiar with their influence can help you pick out colors for a room, determine which materials look best together, and even inspire new designs!
Architects typically study how light and space affect buildings, learn about proportion and harmony, use mathematical formulas to create aesthetically pleasing shapes, and apply these concepts to practical applications.
They may also be trained in specific areas such as fashion, graphic arts, photography, or sculpture, depending on what kind of designing they want to pursue. In fact, some architects combine all five into one field!
Interior designers who have studied art and/or design already know that looking at lots of examples helps them hone their drawing skills, but teaching themselves about architecture gives them another way to refresh those skills.
By understanding the structure of well-designed buildings, you will understand why they work so well and maybe even develop your own unique style. Plus, knowing about windows, roofs, and other parts of a building makes it easier to match up appropriate pictures and shades.
Not only that, but having a knowledge base of both classic and contemporary styles allows you to choose which ones are most important to you and what types of layouts feel comfortable to you when trying to put together your ideal home.

A building’s architecture is its defining feature, giving it shape and structure. An architect uses their knowledge of design to create structures for buildings or spaces, depending on what your intended use of the space is.
Architecture can be categorized into three major styles: classical, modern, and contemporary. Classical style features beautifully designed buildings with elaborate decorations and sculptures that are meant to inspire awe. The opposite of this is called minimalism, which does not contain many decorative touches.
Modern style incorporates clean lines and shapes that reflect the industrial era. This also has no decoration, just sleek designs. Contemporary style is anything new and different from before, like the way skyscrapers have become the norm.
All three of these styles are considered architectural because they involve designing and creating structures, but only two of them actually qualify as practicing architecture. You cannot call yourself an architect if you do not hold a degree or certification in the field!
There are several ways to learn about architecture, such as taking an undergraduate course, attending a certificate program, or receiving training through a bachelor’s degree in interior design or art. But the most direct route would be to take an advanced placement class or study tour at a school with an accredited architecture department.

Like language, architecture is both an expressive form as well as a tool to convey messages. Architects use their skills to help other people plan and create buildings or spaces. They are also learned theory that helps you understand building shapes, styles, and fundamentals.
Architecture is more than looking at pretty pictures of famous buildings, it’s about understanding how things work and applying that knowledge in creating your own designs or adapting someone else’s.
That means figuring out where different materials come from, what needed to be designed into the structure, and how to apply those lessons to your own style or genre.
It also means knowing the basics of design like proportions and colors! While some artists may not learn formal art studies, they’re always using proportion and color in their creations so it doesn’t hurt to explore it.
The Architectural Association offers many courses and certifications related to architectural theory. These include BSc (Hons) Interior Architecture which looks at space, furniture, and decoration, Space Planning and Organization, Theory and Application of Graphic Design Principles, and Introduction to Environmental Psychology. There are even programs for those who want to become professional landscape architects or urban designers!
These courses focus on giving you the tools to be successful beyond just designing beautiful structures, but also helping you develop personal qualities such as time management, leadership, communication, and teamwork.

As I mentioned before, architects help us make important choices about how to spend our time and money. They can influence what kind of car you buy, where you live, and even what career path you take.
Architects are very conscious of how space is used in buildings. This includes things like whether people feel comfortable walking around or having intimate conversations, how much natural light someone has access to, and if there’s enough room for a work area.
These qualities all contribute to creating an environment that encourages productive thinking and action. It also helps create spaces that inspire, motivate, and challenge people.
Furthermore, architects design not only individual rooms but entire homes and offices. By understanding how they use space, you will too.

In addition to helping you organize, plan, and strategize how to develop your skills as an architect, studying architecture can actually aid in giving you creative freedom.
As we know, architects are good at drawing buildings – that’s their forte!
But what about other types of designs?
Landscape design, house plans, interior layout concepts — all of these require more than just knowing how to draw shapes. They also require understanding proportions, color theory, and math.
By incorporating some of these into your repertoire, you’ll be able to take your architectural drafting even further. You may one day find yourself creating furniture layouts or designing gardens, both of which use similar tools and principles as building design.

Architectural style is not defined by one specific feature or element, but rather by the overall feel that it gives off to those who perceive it.
There are several characteristics of an architectural style. These include things such as the use of straight lines, proportion, color schemes, and so forth.
Each of these features contributes to the aesthetic appeal of the building, and when put together, they all work to create an integral part of the architecture itself.
Some examples of famous styles are Neoclassical, Gothic, Renaissance, Chippendale, Art Deco, and Neo-Grammarial. All of these have something in common which makes them recognizable – their use of strong horizontal and vertical lines.

Even if you are not planning to design buildings, there is still hope for you! You can learn how to develop your architecture drawing skills, which will help you be more creative in other areas. These architectural drawing skills include using templates, practicing with pictures or models, and learning basic shapes and proportions.
Architectural drawing is an artistic skill that takes practice. But once you have mastered the basics, you can draw almost anything!
Using templates is one of the best ways to get started as it does not require much effort or money. There are many free template sites where you can find easy architectual drawing designs.
Practicing with real life examples is another way to gain some knowledge. Take some time this week to look through some of your materials and see what styles you like. Or, take a few minutes each day to do some simple sketches.
Once you feel comfortable, then start looking at harder projects. The internet also has a lot of information about different types of buildings and their styles.

Beyond having an aesthetic appeal, architecture also impacts our lives in significant ways. Whether it’s how well public transportation functions or whether there are safe places to walk around or not, everything from daily life depends on architectural features.
Architecture shapes the way we live by determining where things are located and what kind of accessibility they offer. If you need accessible facilities like bathrooms or washrooms, restaurants, shopping areas, etc., then your options will depend on the surrounding environment and the level of access those facilities have.
Furthermore, if there is no adequate number of parking spaces, it may prevent people with limited mobility or who cannot afford cars at times (like during weekends) from being able to fully participate in society. Parking shortages often force people to use more costly transport modes which aren’t as flexible.

Maintaining your house or apartment will depend on whether you are living in it yourself, or if you have someone who can look after it for you. If you live in a house, then there may be professional cleaners that work with landlords to maintain the property you rent.
If you own an apartment, you might not know how to take good care of it yourself, so you should consider finding a trustworthy tenant. Or maybe you’re already renting, and need help figuring out what products work best on keeping the place clean and stable!
Good maintenance helps keep your home safe and secure, and makes moving into or out easier. This is especially true if the maintenance is done right before a large move-in or -out.
Bad maintenance could even threaten your health by introducing chemicals into areas of your home where kids spend time like playrooms and bathrooms. Many toxic cleaning products contain phlobuorbs which can irritate skin and water ways.
Luckily, there are many resources available to learn about the best natural household cleansers. There are also several brands that offer quality products free of these harmful additives.
General tips for improving your home's upkeep include doing frequent light dusting, washing all windows and other glass surfaces, and making sure doors and drawers run smoothly. All of these things help increase the effectiveness of the interior insulation your home has.
