How Does Architecture Unmask The Artist Creativity

A few years back, I read an interesting article about how creative professionals in various fields are inspired by architecture. The author mentioned that many architects have strong artistic skills which they apply to their work. He also noted that some architects develop what he called “architectural styles” that become recognizable signatures of his or her practice.

The article made me wonder if this extended into other areas such as writing. Could someone with no previous experience as a writer take inspiration from professional writers? Or would it be impossible since we’d never really seen it done before?

I thought so!

That’s why I’m sharing my own art studio tour today – to see whether there are any hidden architectural tricks for unleashing your creativity. Let’s go behind the scenes and explore the ways that architects use design to promote creativity in others.

Blog post: Why Is It Important To Use Your Skills For More Than Just Money And Fame?

It's easy to get distracted by money, fame, and material goods when you're doing something that you love, but why should you? Because beyond these things, every living creature needs encouragement and motivation to keep going everyday.

We're all motivated by different things, and being able to identify those strengths in yourself is a key part of mastering life. This applies not just while you're working, but also after you retire or even if you decide to give up one of your jobs.

Look at famous buildings for inspiration

While not every person can be an architect, anyone can look into architecture to find their creative side. Famous architects’ work is almost always inspired by something they saw or experienced earlier in life.

Their creativity comes from incorporating what they learned before into new projects, but also looking beyond the walls of the building for other ideas.

Architects are very social people who spend a lot of time talking about design, so it is no surprise that they pick up lots of cool designs and concepts along the way.

They may even start using these designs in their own work!

Using different styles and types of materials, experimenting with textures and patterns, and keeping collections of interesting objects all contribute to artistic expression.

Architecture is a form of art so why wouldn’t everyone want to add some beauty to our world?

Start exploring how you can use your home, workplace, and community as sources for artistic inspiration. Keep looking and listening, and you won’t know where the next piece of artwork will come from.

The location and the theme are important

When we talk about architecture as an art form, what we mean by that is how it influences and stimulates your artistic creativity.

The setting and environment you use to work in has a big impact on what you create and how you create it. Your surroundings influence who you are as a person and what you like, so making changes to refresh your spirit can boost your creative self-expression.

As with any type of art, letting yourself go and being more free will take time to achieve, but investing in tools and resources to hone your craft is worth the effort.

Architects develop their skills by practicing them, so why not find out which ones are worthwhile investing in? There’t necessarily be a grand scheme behind designing buildings, there may just be someone creating spaces for themselves to enjoy and inspire theirs.

The architecture should reflect the culture

As we have seen, being inspired by nature is one of the major components in creating artwork that utilizes color. Color can serve as an inspiration for other designs or be incorporated into existing styles.

Artists use colors to convey messages and inspire emotions. For example, red signifies anger and passion, while green represents tranquility and relaxation.

Architects also use colors to influence how people feel about a space. For instance, a yellow hue encourages activity, whereas blue makes us relaxed and calm.

The way colors are used depends on the person who uses them. This is why it is important to find out what colors mean to you and develop your own personal style.

Color psychology – or studying the psychological effects of colors–can help you realize the power of design subconsciously.

The architect should be aware of the client

As an architecture student, you will learn about how to design buildings or houses at some length. You will also learn about all types of styles that architects have used in building structure and layouts, and what influenced their designs.

But beyond those academic lessons, there is another important concept to understand as an architectural apprentice – the importance of the architect-client relationship.

This article will discuss why this relationship is so crucial to your career, and possibly even life if you are very careful!

The term ‘architect’ has two distinct meanings. It can refer to someone who practices the art of designing buildings, or it can refer to someone with a degree or certification as an architect. More and more people these days have access to the latter, but speaking from experience, being able to identify which one you are requires you to look behind the curtain.

I would like to talk about the first definition here today – practicing architecture.

As I mentioned before, part of being an architect means having relationships with other professionals in the field. This includes lawyers for contracts, interior designers for space planning, engineers for structural strength, and sometimes publicists for media coverage and promotion. All of these individuals bring something unique to the table and play integral roles in shaping the final product.

However, not every professional in the field is necessarily friendly or supportive when it comes to advancing your career. In fact, there are many cases where they actively work against you.

The designer should use their creativity

As we have seen, being an architect is more than designing buildings. It is about using your creative skills to solve other problems.

As you know by now, the word ‘architect’ comes from the greek words archae (master builder) and tragos (builder). Being an architect therefore means that you are a master builder who designs buildings!

But what makes someone qualify as an architect?

It isn’t just having a degree in architecture nor is it working under an architect at some point in time. Having either of those doesn’t make you qualified to practice architecture.

It takes being able to apply the principles of art design to create something aesthetically pleasing to be considered an artist.

Architects may not like this comparison but artists are very similar to architects. Both have a fundamental understanding of how space works and how to use it for inspiration.

Artists can take their ideas anywhere from concept to execution while an architect must work within certain constraints such as budget or site availability.

However, if you want to call yourself an architect then go for it! But don’t expect people outside of the field to agree with you.

Let your imagination go wild

A long time ago, when architects were professional people who designed buildings, they did not have a lot of creative freedom. Buildings had to be in some sort of style or genre that an architect was trained in, so new styles could not be done unless you are trained in them- which very few people back then were!

Architects would get really limited creativity as their career progressed. They might get allowed to design something like a skyscraper, but beyond that it was hard to give them opportunities to show off their artistic side.

With technology advancing at such a rapid pace today, there is no reason why this should continue. Technology now makes it possible for anyone to create almost anything imaginable, even if it’s just a simple picture or video!

This brings us to our next point.

Let your imagination run free – use technology to aid you

It is totally acceptable these days to use computer software to generate designs. You can pick and choose what features you want in your design, and the program will take care of everything else.

Some programs allow you to add decorations to help disguise the fact that you used another company’s software, so make sure to check those out.

Appeal to the client

As I mentioned earlier, architects appeal to the business side of your organization by helping you achieve your organizational goals. Business people are typically looking for solutions that make sense to them – they want to feel like they made smart decisions, so they give their final approval.

Architects also help create an environment where individuals can thrive. A space with bright colors, open windows, and comfortable furniture encourages productivity and creativity.

Happy employees means more productive workers which is what large companies look for in hiring new staff.

Businesses hire architects because they believe they will keep their costs down through cost-saving measures. For example, you might spend money buying supplies and equipment at a constant rate, but an architect would do it as a yearly contract.

They also ensure things run smoothly behind the scenes, such as organizing meetings, keeping up-to-date records, and staying organized.

It is important to remember that not everyone enjoys dealing with people, so if there’s ever a problem, this person will most likely be able to deal with it. Sometimes no one else is willing or capable of doing something, and an architect may have to take over.

Conversational styles vary widely, even between two people who seem similar. An architect must learn how to read body language and know when someone needs some extra encouragement or guidance.

Tell your friends about it

As we have discussed, being creative is not just having fun with color schemes or using weird shapes to make things. It is exploring new ideas and concepts, developing strategies for expression, and enhancing understanding of fundamental principles.

Architecture is an excellent medium through which to unleash that inner artist.

As you read this article, think about how you would describe what makes someone artistic. Is it their use of colors? Their drawing skills? If you were a teacher, what subjects would you teach students to be more creative in?

By thinking about these questions and applying them to architecture, you will know what makes an architect “artistic”.

Here are some examples of how architects show creativity in the way they design buildings:

Color palette and styles

Using different shaped windows or other structures as components

Layering textures or patterns between surfaces

Including references to nature or mythology

All of these play important roles in creating spaces that feel relaxed and comforting. A sense of calm can help set a positive tone in people’s lives, and reduce stress levels.

That is why there are so many spa-like facilities built out of stone and wood, with natural light and soft music. These types of environments are very popular.
