How Is Architecture Decided By A Scrum Team

As discussed earlier, one of the most important things about any organization is how it structures its projects. For software companies, this structure comes in the form of what they call “the project lifecycle.” This term describes all of the steps involved in creating and delivering a new piece of software or firmware.

Typically, teams within an organization will take separate responsibilities for different stages of this process. These stages include concept/product idea, initial design, prototype, production, and maintenance. Each stage has their own set of people that are responsible for bringing those resources to bear on completing the task.

These individuals typically report into another member of the team who holds the next responsibility. For example, a person may be assigned as the lead designer on product development. That individual would then have direct reports for other members of the initial design team.

Architects are usually given more autonomy than anyone else on the design team since they work outside of others’ departments. This makes them crucial players in determining the overall look and feel of a project. Their influence over the style and function of a system can make a big difference in perception and appeal.

Overall, architects play a significant role in deciding the final shape and theme of a project. They do this by picking appropriate styles, colors, and textures for the interface and supporting materials. Many also contribute to the underlying framework and infrastructure used to implement the feature.

Calculate the budget

When deciding how to spend your money, you should always do your research and determine if this product or service is worth it before investing in it. If you find that it is not, then you can look for alternatives or ways to make it work for you. This way, you will save some money!

The same goes with software as it is with anything else. You get what you pay for!

You need to know what functions of the app are needed first, so you can decide whether to purchase that premium package or not. There may be free versions available as well.

Establish a team

After you have determined that your project needs to include architecture, you need to establish how this will be done. Who will do what is important to know!

You can choose to have one individual handle all of the design work or you can have a lead designer who works with other people in the department to help create designs. Either way, it’s very important that they are able to function well within the internal process of scrum so that changes can be made quickly and effectively.

It also helps to have someone on the team that has some experience working outside the organization as well. This person could even be hired as an external consultant if needed.

Whatever method is chosen, make sure that there is no potential for conflict! If someone feels like their ideas and concepts are being ignored or disregarded, then things may get ugly very fast.

That said, don’t worry about having total control over every aspect of the project. There will always be someone else at the table whose input matters more than yours does!

Project managers play an integral part in keeping the rest of the team motivated since they are responsible for getting the job completed on time. They keep track of deadlines, manage resources, and ensure that everything goes according to plan.

Generalists such as architects usually thrive when given free range to explore different styles and techniques. Such individuals enjoy exploring new types of spaces and designing unique layouts.

Brainstorm the team members

As mentioned earlier, not every project requires an architectural design to be done. Some projects do not require much more than establishing some internal processes and diagrams. For example, creating an online store is typically not as complex as building an I-bank!

Projects that are less significant can sometimes be completed in just one day depending on how many people are involved. In these cases, there is no need for someone with professional experience to lead the process.

By having different levels of expertise within your scrum team, it will help you meet the needs of various projects. Not only does this keep you organized, but it also helps promote teamwork!

If a member of the team has been doing some research or planning already, they can bring it to the rest of the team for review and feedback. This way everyone is collaborating on what should next, and can give their input.

Develop the project plan

The next step is to develop the project plan, which includes defining all of the tasks that will need to be done to accomplish your goal. This can include things like designing an office space, finding suppliers for materials or products, researching how to implement new technology into business processes, and many other possibilities.

Once this is completed, you as a team should be able to estimate how long each task will take using time estimation techniques such as creating milestones, estimating workloads, and tracking progress.

By having individual members of the scrum team responsible for specific parts of the project, they are also able to allocate resources to help with these projects. For example, someone in the marketing department could work on advertisements while another member works on finding new vendors and so forth.

This way no one person gets left behind or overburdened because everyone contributes what they know to make the project move forward efficiently.

Narrow down the project plan

After your team decides what projects it will undertake, the next step is to narrow down the project plans for those projects. This is done through the use of milestones and timelines.

Milestones are discrete events that mark off time frames within a project. For example, if you were planning a trip, you would not say “trip” but rather “travel between May 1st and June 30th.” A milestone is similar in that way – it creates an event or period of time during which something happens.

Timelines are also important parts of this process. A timeline is just a list of milestones with estimated completion times listed under each one.

Projects determined via the process mentioned above should have clear goals and objectives that can be understood easily. If a member of the scrum team cannot understand what a particular task is, then they may ask why that item was included in the project.

Hold daily scrum meetings

As discussed earlier, one of the most important things that play into how your team decides to organize itself is holding regular scrums or meeting times. Since a constant stream of communication is very important in any organization, this is something that can be done easily with the help of an internal tool or through third-party apps.

By having these meetings every day, not only does it give people time to prepare, but it also helps keep relationships strong as people have to make time for each other. This was a key factor in our own organizational structure!

Architects are usually one person so there’s no need to have anyone else present at those meetings unless someone wants to attend. It is helpful if another architect comes along to discuss projects though, as they may both have ideas about what needs to happen next.

In addition to keeping people informed, the nature of the work means that people will probably be talking about it frequently. This can lead to more conversations outside of the scrum setting, which is where things like external presentations begin to come from.

Establish the process

Even though there is no formal meeting where people discuss architecture, there are still ways that the team can make decisions about what areas they want to focus on.

There may be informal conversations or debates over different aspects of an area, but these do not constitute making a decision. It takes more than just talking about an idea to establish it as a fact.

So how does the team decide if and when something becomes a project? They create a process that includes some key steps.

The first step in deciding whether or not to include feature X as part of a project is to determine if it is feasible. If so, then you should include it! But only after this check has been done.

Feasibility questions for including features in projects vary depending on the situation, but most focused on cost and time. For example, would adding feature X save enough time for the project that it justifies its inclusion?

If you're ever unsure if a feasibility question has been answered, assume that it has until you know otherwise.

Execute the process

As mentioned before, leadership is of great importance in how well a team performs. The leader that exists at the top can make or break the success of the organization. This person should be able to motivate the rest of the team so they feel confident and capable of completing their tasks.

The manager of the scrum team will play an important role in determining the architecture of the system. They will use their skills to create the best environment for the team to work in.

They will establish clear goals and expectations, promote teamwork, and keep conversations constructive. When things get difficult, the manager will always keep calm and take time to re-focus the team.

By having these qualities, the scrum team will find it much easier to address any potential problems.
