As discussed earlier, one of the most important things about any given project is what domain it belongs to. For example, if a team is working on designing an app that allows users to create online surveys, then their design domain would be survey creation websites (or apps) and they could look at past designs for such sites to make adaptations from there or even use those as templates!
If a team is working on designing an e-commerce website, then their design domain would be other similar looking e-commerce sites. And so on and so forth.
This article will talk more in depth about how architectural decisions are made within a project beyond just domain knowledge. It will also go into detail about why knowing your design domains is so important and some ways to improve yours.

The best way to learn anything is through education and practice. While this article may seem educational, it is not intended to be read as such. These tips should instead be applied to enhance your current understanding of how architecture is completed within a project and how you can contribute towards that goal.
It is possible that these tips could inspire you to begin practicing being more involved with the architecture of a project you’re part of, or give you new ideas to implement onto projects already under way.

As mentioned earlier, business strategies determine what departments are given responsibility to pursue specific goals. Since software is an integral part of a business, their department will make sure that this software helps them achieve these goals.
Usually, marketing hires professionals in advertising or graphic design to help promote the product through creative designs as well as media advertisements. These people are usually trained in marketing techniques, so they are responsible for creating awareness about your products and services.
Business analysts evaluate whether current tools are adequate for achieving the organization’s objectives. They may also analyze how efficient those tools are, and if it makes more sense to use something else instead.
The project manager oversees all stages of development, including finding new opportunities to add features to an existing tool, developing prototypes, gathering feedback, and negotiating agreements with other teams on which feature should be integrated into the final version.
Architects develop concepts and plans to integrate different components into one solid whole. This includes determining where each component should go and being familiar with the functions and capabilities of individual pieces.
If you have ever seen a building or house, then you know that architects spend time thinking about everything related to the space, from colors to textures to heights and proportions. All of these things combine together to create an immersive experience for the viewer.
Software engineers work under the technical lead to implement appropriate solutions to complex problems.

As mentioned before, business owners and executives make decisions that determine an organization’s future success. They are the ones responsible for deciding which direction the company will take in terms of products and services.
Since they are the ones investing their money into the company, it is important to give them good quality products and services. This way, they will keep coming back!
If a product or service no longer meets their needs, then they can easily choose to go somewhere else for their supplies.
It is the job of the Product Owner to find out what those needs are so that the team can create the best possible solution for the organization.
The architects on your scrum team should be aware of the trends in the industry as well as what solutions other companies have used to fulfill these needs.
They should also know about the potential pitfalls of new technology. By anticipating these problems, your department can avoid creating bad designs that won’t function properly.
That would not only hurt the project, but it could cost the company time and resources to fix later.

Before deciding what kind of house to build, you have to know how much money you have for your home-building project. This is known as having an architectural budget or financial plan.
Most people start looking into buying a house when they are either married or thinking about starting a family. During these times, most people enjoy spending lots of money, so it’s easy to find yourself with a large amount of savings and no clear idea of what to do next.
Land is the biggest cost in owning a house, which is why many wealthy individuals own empty land. It is expensive to buy enough land to make homes on, so most people don’t really get that option.
If you don’t have a lot of money to spend on a house but still want one, then you can look into renting a room from a homeowner or investing in a shared apartment building. Both of these will reduce your housing costs considerably!
Architecture is also a very expensive career, especially if you want to be good at it. Many architects never enter their field because they cannot afford to study design and architecture without paying a hefty price.

The second key factor in deciding what architecture to pursue is the current state of the organization. Does the project need to move forward, or can it be put off for months or years? If you have no major projects under way, then an app that puts interactive maps in your browser can easily be overruled as soon as someone else at the company gets one that has more advanced features.
If there are no such projects underway, then why invest time and money into developing mapped-based software when something simpler will do just fine? Or maybe there’s already some kind of mapping software out there that people love, so why try to improve upon that?
The thing about being agile is that you don’t get credit for doing nothing. You could very well spend weeks (or even days) debating whether or not to allocate resources toward new initiatives, but if those resources are needed elsewhere, then you’ll eventually make room in your schedule.

Another important factor in deciding an area is whether your team will be working during business hours or non-business hours. If you are choosing to work at night, then perhaps outside grounds or building rooftop spaces would make the most sense so that people can come and visit for meetings.
If you choose to hold meetings during the day, then an open space with good natural light would help promote productivity. Obviously, having access to public transportation or a way to get home is helpful as well!
The best time to find out which areas are available really depends on what types of changes happen frequently and how long it takes to organize them. You could also do some research and talk to other teams about their experiences to see if there’s anything unique about any given space.

When a team decides to add onto, or begin work on, an existing building, this is referred to as an extension. An extension can be done for any number of reasons, such as needing more room, wanting to set up additional departments, or because you want to show off your talent (or whatever) more!
When a project becomes too large to fit in a person’s head, sometimes people get stuck trying to decide what element of the design they will do next. This usually results in someone doing research about how to build that type of structure, and then picking one and going with it!
This article will talk about why adding onto an already-built space is tricky, and some tips and tricks to make sure everyone comes away happy.

An important part of deciding an architecture style is whether or not it will have significant impacts on your current clients, vendors, and/or employees. If you’re in a situation where changes to the software would require expensive upgrades or replacements, then creating an agile software platform may be better than sticking with legacy technologies.
Software platforms that are designed for agility can easily be upgraded as technology advances. This is much more common now due to the prevalence of open source software. Open source projects almost always offer at least two different versions, which means users can pick whichever one works best for them.
By using open source software as a base, developers can add advanced features that work well with the rest of the system, while also giving people access to the source code if they so desire. This helps promote innovation as individuals can take what parts they want and make their own enhancements!
It is very difficult to maintain legacy systems once they become outdated. Technology moves quickly, and ensuring that your software still functions properly as new releases come out is no easy task. The longer you leave it, the harder it becomes, which could cost you money in the long run.
Legacy technology also puts pressure on other departments to use this equipment or software, making it more difficult to manage internal relationships. For example, if someone needs help moving, we probably wouldn’t ask why they needed the truck...

The other major reason why not every project needs to include an architect is because of how business decisions are made in your organization. If you have a strong leadership team that makes smart strategic decisions, then there is no need for architects.
We’ve discussed before what important role architects play in helping create sustainable work environments. That is one key reason why not all projects require their input — not only do they not get paid as much, but also people don’t take them seriously.
If someone outside of the architecture department can make the same salary as an architectural professional, then what incentive does he or she have to put in the hard work that comes with being a practicing member of the profession?
That doesn’t mean architects should be discouraged from offering their opinions though! You should always strive to give helpful advice, but if someone else didn’t agree with yours, we’re open to listening to reasons as to why.
