As we make our way through this course, you will learn about all of the different disciplines that are part of architecture. Some of these include interior design, furniture design, landscape design, and even graphic or web design.
All of these areas have one thing in common – they each require an understanding of how to create shapes. Shapes can be geometric (think squares, triangles, and circles) or organic (natural flowing forms).
Architecture is mostly made up of straight lines and rectangles, so learning geometry for shaping is very important. But what kind of geometries?
This lesson will go over some basic polygons: triangles, quadrilateral, and pentagon. After that, we will take a look at something more advanced: regular polyhedra!
Now that you know the basics of creating shapes, let’s apply it to something practical: room designs. You will learnedhow to mix and match shapes to achieve your goal of having a space that feels cozy, spacious, or both.
Geometry plays a big role in defining the feel of a space, and I hope you enjoy exploring it more as you study other fields of art such as painting, sculpture, or illustration.

Like any other field, architects are not neutral entities that influence society for good or bad. They shape how people perceive space, build environments that promote specific behaviors, and create powerful symbolism that leaves an impact beyond what is practical or logical.
Architecture has been around since prehistoric times. Early civilizations built large structures to praise their gods and invite prosperity. The pyramids in Egypt are a perfect example of this!
In ancient Greece, they constructed buildings with beautiful proportions, which still inspire builders today. Ancient Rome left us with its legacy of architectural styles such as Roman baths, Corinthian columns, and trapezoids.
Since then, many different cultures have influenced the way we design skyscrapers, cathedrals, and homes. Many famous landmarks bear the name of a famous architect like Antoni Gaudi, who designed the spires and roofs of Barcelona’s Las Ramblas district.
The word “architectural” comes from the Greek words arche-, meaning chief, and tekhnē, referring to art or skill. So, an architect is someone who designs buildings using artistic skills and knowledge.
However, being an artist doesn’t make you an architect. To be accredited, you need to go through several courses of study to become licensed. This usually includes education in mathematics, physics, chemistry, psychology, economics, geography, history, and political science, just to mention a few.

Like any profession, there are some key people who make an impact beyond just their work. People that leave a lasting impression and inspire other professionals to follow in their footsteps.
In architecture, one of these influential figures is Louis Sullivan. He designed many famous buildings including New York’s Flatiron Building and the Chicago Art Institute.
He also coined the term “Art nouveau” which was later adapted for use in other styles such as Neoclassical or even Modernist.
Another important architect is Frank Lloyd Wright. Not only does he design incredible homes but he also creates concepts for new types of houses!
His most well-known creations include his Prairie Style house designs and his organic Unified Systems Theory (UST).
What is UST?
UST stands for Unity, Harmony, Variety and System. According to Wright, this principle applies not only to nature but to life too.
He used it to describe how our bodies function. For example, your lungs need unity with air to work properly, harmony between oxygen and molecules, variety in shape and size, and a system of blood vessels to pull all of the nutrients from the organs you breathe into you.
Similarly, his home designs have patterns, shapes and textures that emphasize this theory. His works showcase diversity by using different materials and colors, and they feature integration – like the similarities among the components of a body.

There are many different types of architects, but most share some fundamental concepts in architecture. These include the term architect, structural engineer, interior designer, landscape architect, urban planner, and so on.
In this article we will be focusing mostly on the work of an architectural professional who is very popular these days – an interactive or digital artist!
Their job title is often given as creative director, art producer, or just producing artist.
However they choose to be titled, their jobs can seem pretty similar at first glance. After all, they both focus on creating artistic designs that appeal to the eye.
But what sets them apart is how they apply those designs. As mentioned before, artists design things from scratch – starting with a blank canvas and then adding layers (like paint) until it feels finished.
Interactive designers do not have that luxury. They must use existing materials, frameworks, and software to create their design. This is where it gets interesting!
They may spend hours searching for the perfect template or designing their own version of the template to fit their needs. Then they must find ways to edit or add onto the original source material to make their design their own.
It is also important to note that while creative directors may start off with a fully conceptualized idea, the vast majority are involved in several stages of production.

Now that you have found your dream career, it is time to think about how to run your business! While some may consider being an architect a lucrative career, most people are not able to make a living through their profession alone.
Running an architecture firm includes things such as overseeing construction projects, designing new buildings or renovations, organizing meetings, keeping up with current trends in design, and educating yourself about materials and concepts of engineering.
All of these tasks require separate professionals with different specializations. For example, someone else must coordinate the project, another person needs to understand engineering principles, and others need to be familiar with interior decoration and how to use appropriate colors.
It is important to know who will help you fulfill your dreams and what they can contribute to the success of your company. Finding other architects who work well together and making sure they like each other’s strengths will ensure that your office runs smoothly.

That is a great question! An architect’s main task is to envision, design, and create spaces for interaction, understanding, and appreciation of architecture. Spaces that make you feel good about how they were designed and look are important to most people.
Architecture has always been considered a profession with a high degree of prestige. In fact, some say it’s the highest ranking professional practice there is. A well-designed building or space can influence others around them by making them admire the structure, style, or creativity used to produce it.
That’s why many people consider being an architect to be a lucrative career. But before you start cranking out proposals and working your way up through the ranks, don’t forget what the job actually entails.

Being an architect is not for someone with no artistic talent or skills. You will need to know how to draw, design patterns and shapes, use appropriate mathematical formulas to create buildings, and of course, you must be good at communicating your vision to others.
Architects are creative individuals who envision and implement architectural concepts that meet the needs and expectations of people. They are also professionals who keep up-to-date on current trends and materials used in building structures.
Overall, being an architect requires a solid knowledge base of both architecture and mathematics, as well as the ability to apply these principles to make intelligent designs.
There are many ways to become educated about architecture so that you can pursue this career path. Many universities offer undergraduate degrees in architecture which typically take four years to complete. Some other schools have more specific programs such as environmental studies, urban planning, or business administration, but none require only a bachelor’s degree.
By learning more about architects and what they do, you will definitely get inspired to start studying the field. There are several ways to achieve this – by reading books, watching documentaries, talking to professional architects, and even going into some classes if offered locally.
Reading different material related to architects and their work will help you understand it better.
