How Much Is The Chicago Architecture Boat Tour

The architecture boat tour is one of the most popular tours in Chicago, offering guests an interesting experience that they will not want to miss. Not only does it give you beautiful views of the city, but it also teaches you a lot about the history and influence of the architectural style of the area!

The boat tour takes place aboard large motorboats with enough room for around ten people per boat. Some boats even have wi-fi so visitors can stay connected while exploring the city!

Most boat tours start off at Navy Pier where passengers are picked up by boat and taken towards the downtown area. Here, the guides talk about the history of the pier as well as the surrounding areas like Jackson Park and Lincoln Park.

Afterwards, the boat navigates through some of the best parts of the city to see different types of buildings including skyscrapers, apartment buildings, and more.????????”

Many tourists enjoy the boat tour because they get to learn something new every time they look into a building. They may notice how certain shapes or decorations fit together or what materials were used to create the structure.

Some boats take longer routes than others to show all these features, giving everyone equal amount of exposure. No matter who you are, there is always something here for you!

How much does the tour cost?

The overall price of the boat tour is dependent on how many people you have in your group, what time slot you choose to attend, and how long you want to spend exploring all of the sites.

There are two ways to take the boat tour- self guided or guide led. A guide lead tour gives you more one on one attention as well as additional information about certain buildings and areas. This is highly recommended if you are very familiar with some of the sites on the architecture tour!

The boats used for the tour are large enough so that there is room for around eight to ten people per boat. Some groups prefer an even number which allows them to spread out more and talk to each other but we recommend using the lonelier boat option because then you get to appreciate the beauty of the city without being distracted by chatty strangers.

The boats hold up to five stops depending on how fast the driver takes to reach the destination. There are three main types of stop that the tour makes; museums, restaurants, and special events.

At most museum stops, the boat will be waiting outside while people go in and out. You can usually tell when it’s time to leave because the engines start running and everyone gets onto the boat at once.

Is there a guide?

While some may think that boat tours are expensive, they do not have to be! There are several companies that offer free or low cost boat tour experiences. Some even organize walking tours around the city so you can truly mix-and-match tour types depending on what you want to see!

The best way to find out how much these tours cost is to visit them yourself. Many of these companies will allow you to read their prices before purchasing anything so that you know for sure that it does not increase too much.

Some may even give you an additional discount if you purchase online instead of at the store! It really depends on which company you choose though, so make sure to check out all of those to determine the best fit for you.

What should I wear?

While there is no formal dress code for boat tours, some popular sites require you to be comfortable so you can easily take pictures of all the beautiful sights. If you are more casual feel free to bring jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt if you like!

Most tour operators will supply you with either casual clothes or beach attire depending on what type of trip you want to have. Pick one set look that everyone has on the tour and stay in those unless someone asks you to switch up.

Some people choose to do bare feet or sandals due to the soft surface of the boat, but this may not work for every person. We recommend bringing at least one pair of shoes per person just in case.

We also suggest wearing sunscreen lotion before you board the boat and during the tour.

Is it safe?

The safety of the tour is something we worry about constantly. We have to ensure that our patrons are able to safely get from place to place, understand the routes well enough to navigate if they need to, and know what to do in an emergency or situation.

One thing we’ve done to increase safety is add additional guides for each boat tour. This way, even if one guide isn’t available, another can take over. Another improvement we made was adding more experienced guides so that there is always at least one professional standing next to you.

We also now require all guests on board to have experience taking this tour. No one under the age of 16 may enter the vehicle unless accompanied by an adult (minimum age is 12). To make sure no one gets left out, staff members must work before school, after school, and during their off-hours to find someone who will watch a child while a parent goes on a boat tour.

These changes were put into effect because sometimes things happen.

Is it worth it?

The cost of the boat tour depends on how many people you’re traveling with, whether or not there are any organized groups being sponsored, and what time of year you do it. During winter months, the tour is more expensive as there are less tourists and colder weather conditions.

There is an additional cost to rent your own gear like snow shoes or wool hats. Some vendors may offer discount tickets if you purchase their merchandise outside the tour so that way you get a deal too!

By doing some research, you can find discounts and coupons for the tour as well. Make sure to check out our list of deals here!

The most important thing to remember about the boat tour is that no one gets paid unless you buy something. So, make sure you are buying things from accredited vendors! Only buy authentic products and don’t pay over-the-top prices for nothing.

What do you see?

The first thing most people notice about Chicago’s architecture is its skyline. There are so many beautiful skyscrapers here that it really draws your attention to them. Some say this is because we have such an obsession with our own success in life, but I think it’s just impressive how many there are!

Many consider Chicago’s architectural landscape to be mostly made up of tall buildings with lots of glass and steel. While that certainly fits what we know about the city as a whole, there is much more to look at than just that.

You have to remember that before modern technology, architects didn’t have very good ways to share their ideas quickly or easily. This means that even simple concepts like using brick instead of stone took quite some time to materialize into something usable.

The same goes for exploring new materials like aluminum or plastic instead of wood or iron. It takes time to find the right applications for these products and having designers use them instead of the standard option makes your building unique. All of those things take effort to design, plan, source and implement, which comes down to money.

With all of those expenses factored in, creating a beautiful interior isn’t exactly free. Luckily, though, boat tours offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy great scenery while also getting insights into the history of the area. These trips usually focus on a particular neighborhood or area of town, giving you more specific points of interest.

Do I need any preparation?

While some boat tours offer all-inclusive experiences, most require you to bring your own food or get additional snacks from nearby restaurants. Most also ask that you don’t drink too much because it costs money!

Most importantly, make sure you have comfortable shoes as the tour can be long (upwards of an hour) and there are often stairs involved.

There is one other thing to consider – weather! If it’s raining, you will have to stop at a restaurant or coffee shop for extra towels or blankets, which cost money. So, make sure you factor in enough time to dry off and warm up before moving forward.

Also, remember this experience is more than just looking at pretty buildings! It’s exploring the history of the city, meeting new people, and learning about the architecture genre.

What are the best times to go?

The boat tour is usually done either in the morning or late afternoon, depending on when you want to start exploring! They offer both all-day tours and guided hop-on/hop-off tours at specific locations. For example, they may take you down the Gold Coast for an hour before taking you by the Art Institute of Chicago for some time.

The cost per person depends on how long you spend looking around each location as well as how many people there are in your group. It also varies slightly according to whether it’s an all day trip or not but overall, the boat tour is priced quite reasonably.

We recommend doing the boat tour early in the week as most places close down for maintenance during that time. There will be more open spaces available then than there can be later in the week.
