For a yoga therapist to provide a balanced approach, it’s important that their understanding of the philosophy behind the program and the philosophy of life is at its peak.

According to International Board Certified Yoga Therapist:

"The essential qualifications for a yoga therapist are knowledge and skills in the arts and sciences of yoga therapy, the ability to teach the treatment principles of yoga, and specialized training in yoga philosophy."

You’ll have to be fairly well educated because you’ll need to be able to handle the legal aspect of yoga therapy as well as the psychological side of the treatment.

It’s important that you understand the laws regarding practicing yoga therapy. You will also need to be proficient at writing and teaching.

Although, many students have access to the American Board of Yoga Therapy and many people are certified with the American Board of Yoga Therapy, it’s not a requirement.

However, if you want to be a certified yoga therapist, you will have to pass the exam to do so.

What do yoga therapists do?

In my experience, yoga therapists are essentially the facilitators of the yoga therapy relationship.

They help you connect to the parts of your body that would be developed through your therapy, and help you tap into the psychological aspects of your yoga practice.

The two main types of yoga therapy I have practiced are CBT-based therapy and Yin yoga therapy. CBT is cognitive behavioral therapy, and thus the client's behavior, as well as the therapist's behavior, is encouraged to change.

Yin yoga therapy is similar, except the focus is on breath work and meditation.

When creating a yoga therapy with the right person, you are essentially bringing a professional in to help you get into contact with your body.

You have a vulnerable state of mind, and in order to create a life-altering change, a professional has to be there to help you in these vulnerable moments.

This is a pivotal point for yoga therapy to be successful, and it's very important to have a good therapist in your corner.

The way you go about practicing yoga can make or break your practice. It's not about achieving a pose, it's about learning to release your whole body through different asanas, and knowing how to fully release yourself from your mind.

When you let yourself go, and find your true inner self, that's when you realize what it means to be in the present moment.

The power of yoga lies in the release of the ego. It allows a person to enter into the mind, and not the outside world. I think that is why yoga therapy can be so successful. It's the best therapy I have ever found.
