Becoming an architect is not for the faint of heart or those who feel they know everything already, as that would make it hard to earn the title! That being said, becoming an architect is a great way to strengthen your business acumen and knowledge base.
Architects have very in-depth knowledge about how businesses work and function, and thus are highly sought after within the corporate world.
Business owners always look forward to receiving their annual budget report from an accountant, for example, so having a degree or certification in accounting would definitely give you a competitive edge over others.
But aside from knowing what accounts need to be monitored, an architect must also understand basic concepts of mathematics, physics, engineering, and chemistry to name a few.
Overall, architects are well rounded individuals who enjoy solving complex problems using both traditional and creative methods.

Having a Bachelor’s Degree is a great way to begin your career as an architect, or any other professional developer for that matter. Programs with master's degrees are also available but having a BA is still very popular.
Most architecture programs include courses such as software engineering, general business classes, project management, leadership, and of course- programming.
By obtaining this level education you have already mastered one part of becoming a professional programmer. Now, you must learn how to organize and plan large projects, bring out the best in people around you, and manage time effectively.
These are all fundamental skills needed to be successful working as an architect.
Being an architect doesn’t necessarily mean you will be designing skyscrapers, but it does require you to be good at thinking about how things work and how to make them work better. Software architects are also called system architects or architecture professionals.
Software architects design computer systems by defining roles for different people and developing strategies to promote efficient communication and interoperability. They also ensure that the technology used is reliable and effective.
The term “architecture” comes from the Greek word arkhete, which means “to plan, arrange, ordain, establish, regulate.” As such, being an architectural leader involves creating frameworks and guidelines to help others achieve their goals.
Like other types of engineers, software architects must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science along with three to five years of experience working as a programmer. A college graduate can pick up additional skills through certification or professional development courses.

As mentioned before, becoming an architectural leader is not easy. It takes time to develop those skills and leadership qualities. Becoming an experienced software architect requires around five years of steady work as one position to achieve that goal.
That is why most large corporations have separate departments for senior management who oversee the architects and engineers in their organization. A small company may only have an engineering department, but they can still have someone with managerial responsibilities!
It will also take some time to find your team members and colleagues that share similar values and goals. For example, if you are looking to grow within the technology field, then people with similar backgrounds and experiences should be recruited into your team.
By having these things in place, it will help you maintain strong relationships and keep motivated towards your career growth.

A key part of becoming an architect is understanding basic concepts in software development, or what we refer to as software architecture. These include such fundamental topics like object-oriented programming (OOP), modularization, and separation of concerns.
Software architectures are usually made up of several components that work together to create and execute functions. For example, when you login to a website, different parts of the system collaborate to process your username and password and then present you with a user interface (UI) to check into various services.
Architects take these functional pieces and organize them so they are easy to use and understand for other developers who will be integrally involved in the project’s success or failure.
By having clear communication about how things fit together, people can work more efficiently and effectively.

The second part of becoming an architect in this industry is making sense of the software that people create. If you are looking to climb the ladder, then getting your hands dirty with not only lower level programming languages but also higher level concepts like software architecture and design, these must be understood!
As mentioned before, being able to program well comes from having knowledge of different computer science disciplines and levels. This includes knowing how to code in Python or JavaScript, for example, as opposed to just using one specific tool like PHP or Ruby on Rails.
By understanding other fundamental components of coding such as object-oriented theory and logic flow, you can begin to apply it towards more complex projects. These types of theories apply when designing applications so they can be learned outside of the context of employment!
There are many great resources out there to learn about software architecture. You do not need to know everything about it, but by taking some courses and reading some material, you will at least have a basic idea of what things mean.

The second fundamental concept in software development is object oriented programming (OOP). OOP was created by computer scientist Bertrand Meyer who developed this theory in 1972. He described it as a way to create programs that work!
Objects are modular pieces of code that have defined features and behaviors. By putting these objects together, you can make things happen. Software built using OOP are referred to as Object Oriented Applications or Programs.
The term “object” comes from the field of mathematics where functions are used to perform actions. In software, these functions have additional properties and qualities. For example, a function may be said to be immutable – it does not change anything else once it has been run.
Another important feature of objects is their structure. Objects typically contain variables and/or methods which they use to communicate with each other. This ability to interact with others is what makes them so powerful.
There are several types of objects including: value objects, state objects, abstract data types and classes. As you learn more about OOP, you will understand how to apply all four into making your applications and designs better.
By being familiar with the basics of OOP, you will know how to put together some of the most popular open source technology such as Python, PHP and JavaScript.

There are several important steps in becoming an architect, but one of the most fundamental is knowing how to manage projects. This includes things like project planning, gathering requirements, managing time, and others.
Project management is also related to what kind of position you want to be an architect at your company or as a developer. If you are looking to take over a team that has been doing their jobs poorly for extended periods of time, then being a director of operations is the right career path for you!
However, if you are just starting out as a programmer and want to climb the ladder, becoming an architecture leader of a development department can help you get there faster. Either way, learning how to manage projects is something every aspiring software engineer should know.
General project management courses will talk about all of these concepts, but not much else beyond that. What people don’t tell you is that some of those concepts aren’t very practical until you have done it before!
At The Software Architecture School, we believe that everyone deserves high-quality training when they are ready to advance their careers. That’s why we have partnered up with Course Report to bring you this detailed step by step guide to learn how to become an architectural lead.
This course covers everything from how to plan a project to negotiating responsibilities clear down to who gets what equipment. All of this information is easily accessible and can be reviewed any number of times to make sure you understand it.

Being an architect means more than just having a degree or certification, being able to design cool things, and talking about software architecture all day. You will be tasked with helping other people in the organization achieve their goals, which can sometimes mean going above and beyond what they asked you to do.
That is why being a good team player is so important for architects. No matter who your manager is, he or she will have to lean on you at some point.
They may ask you to take over a project that someone else left half-finished, or to help them decide how to revamp an old system. Or maybe they will simply ask you to come work under them so they can promote you.
Whatever it is, they will likely count on you to contribute and help them meet deadlines. If you cannot handle this, then you are not the right fit for architectural positions.
Being a good team leader takes effort, but it is always worth it. People look up to leaders, so if you want to climb the ladder as an engineer or programmer, you must care about others and know how to lead them.
