How To Do Graphic Design On Mac

This article will discuss how to do graphic design on Mac.

apple, macbook, notebook

Mac's family of operating systems are all designed to work with one another. Each of these systems have some advantages over the others.

One of the most important differences is the available amount of storage, i.e. hard drive, RAM, internal and external flash memory. As an illustrative example, let's discuss 3D animation software, such as After Effects.

When it comes to OSX the equivalent of Adobe After Effects are Macromedia Flash Builder 5, which can be bought for the Mac, Windows and Mac OSX, is not widely available and is extremely expensive.

However, Macromedia's Final Cut Studio 2 for Mac can easily be obtained for free, the price of which is hard to beat, especially if the bulk of what you need is already installed on your Mac.

Despite this, Adobe Flash Builder 5 may well be one of the best choices for those on a tight budget, as it's free to use with no need for a licence.

At the time of writing, Adobe is advising that the 7.0.5 version, which came out last year is their last version of Flash Builder, while the current 6.0.5 version is the best version available.

Most graphic designers who work on Mac need to learn about Photoshop.

Since it is an application and most graphic designers have a personal computer that runs Photoshop on it, the easiest way to learn how to do graphic design on mac is to learn how to use Photoshop from scratch, without purchasing an application.

But in this article I am going to show you how you can actually do graphic design using only Photoshop.

Today, I will try to explain how you can create an excellent Photoshop version of a picture that you have created with an actual camera.

I am not talking about creating a photo retouching on Photoshop, where you will recolor the whole picture and nothing more, but rather about creating a graphics-based layout of a photograph.

I will give you a simple example: the idea is to create the design for a laser graphic machine.

How to create a laser graphics machine in Photoshop:

I created this little example by buying a laser T-Shirt in the store, then scanning it. I printed a test photo, a plain one, to see how easy it is to use photoshop to create this.

I am using photoshop CS6 with a model photography package in CS3. It will work fine with any version of photoshop.

Step 1:

First of all, I downloaded this photo of a T-shirt and created a new document in photoshop. I made this new document in 800 dpi resolution, and exported it as a PDF.

If you have downloaded the same file with the same resolution in the same format, it will be a 32 x 32 px document. In the screenshot below you can see the exported result.

Step 2:

Next, I opened the PDF file in a new document and saved it in my new document folder. I set the naming of the document so that it would be easier to find later.

Then, I took the result I had from Step 1, added it to the first document and made it the layer in which I will do all the editing.

Step 3:

Next, I found a quick method for finding the center of a page. I want my design to be square, but I don't want a shape that is also square.

To do that, you just need to go to the Clipboard and press Alt-F2. You can also find this tip in the description of one of the tools in Photoshop.

This will allow you to go to the Clipboard, select the first blank area on the clipboard, and press CTRL+F2 to bring up the information about your selected text area. Then, select the empty area, and Press Ctrl+F2.

As you can see, it took just a few seconds for me to find the center of the page.

Step 4:

Now, I want to adjust the size of the design. If you have noticed, the image was almost full-sized when I placed it in the document. Now, I want to adjust the dimensions of it, so that it fits the dimensions of the table.

I set the size to 18px (5 pt font) and 12px (2 pt font), in two different sizes, which I set to 1px. I saved these values as values in my clipboard.

Then I changed the color to blue and played with the levels to get the effect I wanted.

Step 5:

I want to resize the design so that it fits perfectly in the screen. I created a new document with the same dimensions as I had before, and opened the original file.

Then I created a new layer below the original document and named it “preview”.

I made the new layer the same size as the original.

To get the effect, I made the preview image smaller and larger.

I made the design right in the middle of the original one, with a size that would fit in the target size. I also made sure that the new size was not smaller than the original size.

Step 6:

Next, I am going to resize the preview image. You can do that in one of two ways: using percentages or using pixels.

This is where we can use pixels instead of percentages. This is useful for images and you can control a lot of things using them.

Step 7:

I had done some minor adjustments to my image, so that it would fit in the target size. Next, I saved it as a PDF file.

I had three copies of the PDF file in my document folder: one for each device (a desktop, a laptop, and a phone).

Done!
