The architecture school at Kansas State University is one of its kind. It was not until recently that students were allowed to officially declare their major as “architecture”. Before then, it was categorized under either landscape or urban design, both of which do not offer the same degree level as an actual architect program.
Now that they have full access to the term “architect”, more students are exploring what types of careers in this field are available to them. Some people choose to work solely for architectural firms while others decide to go freelance.
The latter is much better suited for most individuals because it allows you to use your creative skills to make money and find jobs that match yours. There are many ways to go about doing this, but some strategies require you to have certain levels of business knowledge.
Like many other fields, architects are very creative. They use their creativity to envision different ways to structure buildings or landscapes. Architectural styles come and go, making it hard to describe which styles are current and popular.
Prior to the Renaissance, most people lived in small villages or towns where they were close to each other and knew about each other. As cities grew larger, structures had to be designed for large populations that did not know about each other. This is when skyscrapers and monuments came into style.
Skyscraper design began during an era when technology was developing rapidly. New tools allowed for taller and thicker materials which gave rise to towering silhouettes. The Empire State Buildings in New York are a good example of this.
The modern architectural style emerged around the turn of the 20th century. Architects built with geometric shapes, natural light, and easy to navigate spaces. A well-known example of this is the Chippendale Library at Stanford University.
Since then, new technologies have recharged the need to create tall, impressive looking buildings. Technology has made it possible to construct ever bigger, heavier windows and doors, as well as give you access to more information.

During the Renaissance, Gothic was one of the most popular styles. It originated from Germany where it became very famous as St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cologne. This style is characterized by large windows framed with thick stone traceries or lace-like patterns.
The gothic influence can also be seen in many other architectural styles such as Neoclassicism, Chippendale furniture, and Art Deco. While some consider this style to be overly dramatic and theatrical, it is nonetheless interesting to see how architects incorporated strong lines, proportion, and decoration into their work.
During the Industrial Era, neoclassical styles flourished. These are typically inspired by Greek and Roman designs that feature beautiful orderliness and structure. The classic example of this style is Washington Monument, which is built according to strict proportions.
Another important period in modern architectural design is Art Deco. This style was heavily influenced by 1920’s culture, typified by flashy colors, flamboyant decorations, and geometric shapes. Many buildings designed during this time still retain these characteristics today.
A third major style is called Modernism. Architects of this era rejected traditional formal decor and instead focused on creating structures that fit seamlessly within their environment. A well known architect who practiced modernist principles was Le Corbusier. His best know project is his house called Villa Savoye.

Being an architect means that you are very creative,” says architectural student Avery Ching. “You get to use your creativity to envision different layouts and designs of buildings and landscapes. Your career as an architect can include working for large firms or private companies who hire you to design their space.”
Charming, right? Creative people are known to be hard workers though, so it is not surprising that becoming an architect also requires lots of work ethic. Many students start their careers with no experience, so they must find ways to learn from more experienced professionals.
Architects have many things in common including taking courses such as art, business, and science- all designed to help them understand concepts of structure, function, and designing spaces. Some are even trained in specific fields like building engineering or interior decorating.
However, not every professional becomes famous and wealthy! This isn’t always the case for those at the top of the field. But, what about us mere mortals? What makes someone successful as an architect?
It takes a lot of hard work to become well known in our field, but there are some key people behind each success story. In this article, we will discuss the important roles some architects play in shaping the future of the profession. We will talk about how to be like them – or if you already are, why you should keep doing your job.

The Kansas State Capitol in Topeka is an excellent example of k-state design. This architectural style was coined ‘k-state’ because it features two different shapes that intersect at a right angle, creating what looks like a capital letter “K”. These types of buildings are very popular due to their aesthetically pleasing look.
The architects behind this building designed it so windows would be framed by both curves and angles. This creates a beautiful pattern which can be seen from many vantage points around the campus.
This article will talk more about some qualities of k-state design and why they matter in your business. We will also discuss some examples of k-states in real life. So let’s get started!
Why Is It Important To Use K States In Your Designs?
To begin with, I want to make one thing clear – k states do not use complicated or unique geometries as part of their frame. Rather, they use simple rectangles and circles along with intersections at a 90 degree angle.
This gives them their distinctive look, but it also helps create additional effects within the space. For instance, you could draw attention to an element in the room by putting it towards the intersection of the k state frame. Or, you could cover up parts of the frame to create darker areas of the wall.
It’s all dependent upon the context of the piece and how you plan to use it.

The Kansas State University School of Architecture and Design is one of the top architecture schools in America with many students, professors, and alumni that have gone onto great things. They are consistently ranked as a top school for their undergraduate program as well as their graduate programs.
Their main building was designed by architect Robert Venturi back in 1972-1973. It features an architectural style known as k-state or kent state which looks like classic Norman Gothic structures with some unique additions.
One such addition to the structure is the use of large glass walls and doors which create beautiful interior spaces. Another interesting feature of this building is its roof which has been nicknamed the “sky cap” due to its shape resembling a hard hat.
This roof design helps keep heat out of the classroom space while also adding some uniqueness to the space. Many people refer to it as the “Venturi effect” because of how it shapes the surrounding area.

These three historic buildings are located in one complex, making it easy for you to visit them all! You do not need to make an appointment to tour each site as they are open during regular business hours.
The University Center is situated on 1.2 acres of land just west of Highway 50. It was designed by renowned architect Gunnar Birkerts with input from other architects at the time including Robert Venturi, Antoni Gaudí, and Paul Goldberger. All four were members of the American Institute of Architects and thus this project received significant recognition.
Birkerts’ design focused heavily on creating space and light within the building while also incorporating natural materials such as stone and wood. When viewed from above, his architecture looks like waves moving down the side of the building.
This gave the area directly below the roofline a sense of openness. The roofs themselves feature large skylights that let sunlight pour into the interior spaces. This helps contribute to the feeling of spaciousness in the building.

Downtown Manhattan, Kansas is home to one of the most famous landmarks in America- The KState Capitol building!
The architectural style of this skyscraper is known as “K” or sometimes called Chippendale Gothic. This is due to its use of rounded arches and triangular windows that resemble the classic Chippendale furniture design.
Not only does this look great, but it also gives off an elegant feel as well. This feeling is very popular among people who love architecture.
Many other styles are able to borrow characteristics and ingredients from this style, making it have moderate popularity. People seem to like it because it looks professional without being too flashy.
Another reason why this style is so loved is because you can easily recognize what features belong to it. For example, there are certain vertical lines that clearly indicate where each arch begins and ends. These lines help give the structure some strength and stability.
Also, since there are no straight lines, the eye is distracted less which makes the building aesthetically pleasing.

K state is an architectural style that was popularized in the 1960s-1970s when famous architects would incorporate what some called “kooks” or “non-traditional” elements into their designs. These non-traditional features include things like exposed brick, oversized windows, sculptures, and other items.
The term “kookiness” comes from the word “koi,” which are naturalistic water lilies found in ponds and lakes. Koi were designed to grow tall by leaving space for energy to build height as they develop and expand as fish do.
A similar concept applies to kooky buildings. By giving them room to grow, they can reach their full potential. Sometimes these buildings lose relevance as technology advances make such decorations obsolete. But at the same time, they inspire creativity in others who look at them with new ideas.
