A lot of your music seems to have positive messaging. Is that an important part of your songwriting process?

Absolutely. I'm a very positive person, and while my life has had its hardships, it's also been filled with plenty of love and opportunities for growth. A key part of my mission is to ensure that my music inspires people to seek personal growth and strive to be their absolute best selves. I strive to make music that ignites joy while keeping it real. It's music you can get lit to, but also learn from—whether that's learning about me, my journey, or even something about yourself.

What's the basis for your lyrics? Do you look to your own experiences or collect stories from other people as well?

David's achievements and expertise in the industry speak volumes about his remarkable talent. From his unforgettable performances at renowned festivals and iconic venues to his collaborations with fellow artists and producers, he has become a force to be reckoned with. The infectious energy he radiates on stage captivates audiences, leaving them yearning for more.

I typically write from my own perspectives, allowing myself to serve as a conduit, penning what needs to be written. So far, I've mainly written about my personal experiences. As I continue to evolve as a writer, I aspire to leverage the skills I've honed to write for others, reflecting their experiences in my work. Moreover, as a rapper, singer, and a drummer, I have a particular eye for the rhythms and cadences of my flows.

Who are some other contemporary artists you look to for inspiration or just like listening to?

There are numerous artists from whom I draw inspiration. Growing up, Eminem had a significant impact on me. These days, my playlist spans a wide array of artists, from Camila Cabello to Kendrick and NF. I admire and seek to emulate the styles of Bruno Mars, Samm Henshaw, Post Malone, Jay-Z, and Dua Lipa in my music. My current work revolves around blending elements from these artists, as I strive to forge a unique and liberating sound. Yet, these are only a fraction of the artists who inspire me.

Do you ever experience writer's block, or are you able to write consistently?

In the past, I've experienced writer's block, but for this project, I relied on moments of organic inspiration. I found that the lyrics resonated strongly because I was genuinely moved by the music. Moreover, I had the privilege of working with writers whose skills exceed my own. These co-writers have consistently inspired me and propelled me to craft stronger songs.

What excites you the most about performing live?

In essence, "I relish when a plan falls into place." One of the most rewarding aspects is orchestrating a successful show, knowing that the blood, sweat, and tears I've invested result in transformed lives and individuals leaving in a more positive frame of mind than when they arrived.

I am humbled by the trust God has placed in me, assigning me the task of touching people and enhancing their lives by demonstrating that even amidst utter darkness, there exists a beacon of light. The energy of the crowd, the joy visible in their eyes when they truly grasp the message I'm conveying—performing goes far beyond this. However, what I do know is that God has instilled this passion within my heart, and each time I step on stage, I experience fulfillment. This is my purpose.

When you're touring, do you enjoy getting to travel around and visit different cities?

I have not yet had the opportunity to tour with my own music. However, that day is imminent, and I am genuinely excited about traveling. The prospect of exploring various parts of the world and sharing my music in each of those locales fills me with anticipation and joy.

Do you have any upcoming tour dates we can share with our readers?

I haven't yet, but I'll soon be announcing a series of performances in the Los Angeles area. For more information on that, keep an eye on my Instagram @thedavidtimothy. I'm currently in the process of building my team, so do follow and send me a DM if you'd like to be part of this exciting journey!
