The Beauty of F&H Architecture

While some might argue that architecture is totally irrelevant in this day and age, when most people consider themselves as architects, it is definitely not! Architectural theory has always been important to understanding how buildings work, and how to improve upon or create new structures.

Architecture touches every part of our lives, even if you are never directly in an architectural setting. For example, just by using buses you’re still interacting with efficient design strategies and concepts such as space planning, proportion, and color schemes. These designs also influence the way we feel about ourselves and our environments.

Furthermore, the field of psychology teaches us that our perception and experiences shape our emotions and behaviors, making architecting related theories very important.

This article will talk more about one specific branch of architectural theory-Functionalism. It was coined “the science of beautiful functioning” which describes how well organized spaces help motivate action and focus.

It was popularized through Harvard University where it became famous for its use of large open rooms and white walls which emphasize unity. More recently though, it has mixed up into other styles such as Deconstructivism and Neofunctionalist.

These different types all share similar terminology and ideas but have unique emphases depending on who designed them. This article will try to describe what functionalist philosophy is, why it is interesting, and how you can apply it in your daily life.

Key elements of F&h architecture

One of the most important concepts in understanding F&H architecture is the role that windows play in defining an area as functional or decorative. Functionally, a window can be anything from a sliding glass door to a picture frame to a curtain wall!

Decoratively, there are three main types of windows: classic framed windows, frameless windows (also referred to as glazed walls), and picture-window style openings.

A classic framed window has frames around it, making it look more formal. A frameless window looks less structured and creates a lighter feeling space. A picture-window style opening is similar to a frameless window, but instead of having solid frames surrounding the whole window, only one side has framing.

The third type of decorating window is what we refer to as a “glazed wall” or "transparent room." These are totally seamless walls made out of panes of glass or plastic that let light stream through beautifully. Glazed walls are very popular because they allow for lots of natural sunlight, which makes your interior much brighter and warmer.

Establish a firm structure

As your business grows, so does the need to establish organizational structures for it! This is important because you will want to know who is in charge of what projects, how people are assigned to different tasks, and which departments they belong to.

As you grow, there may be limited resources or time that can be spread thin if not managed properly. Even more importantly, as your company grows, your responsibilities increase as well!

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when trying to manage all these things on your own, even if you’re just starting out. That’s why it is very important to develop strong leadership skills early on.

By establishing clear roles and systems at the beginning, you’ll have less stress coming up with ways to organize and coordinate everything later. Plus, you’ll enjoy having someone else take care of certain parts of the business for you!

There are many types of organizations and leadership styles, so don’t feel like you have to use one over the other. What works best for you depends on your personal style, what kind of results you want to achieve, and what type of environment you're in- internally (at work) and externally (with others).

Finding this balance takes practice, but doesn't necessarily require formal education. Starting off by learning about different leadership styles and finding what works for you is an excellent way to learn those lessons.

Write your business plan

Now that you have done some research, gathered your notes and put in the effort to start your business, it is time to write down what you are going to do next. This article and bullet point will talk about doing just that — writing down all of the steps for your business!

First, you will want to make sure that everything is documented and organized. You should create an easy-to-access document (Google Docs or Microsoft Word are good options) where you can organize all of your business plans and notes. This way, you don’t have to go through endless pages when you try to find something later.

Next, you will want to pick a genre that your business fits into. A business plan template in this case would be creating a business from zero to twenty five years – why not use that as a guideline?

Once you have picked your genre, you can begin organizing and adding content to your business plan.

Fund your business

Starting an architecture firm is not cheap, nor will it stay in business long if you do not have at least a small amount of money saved up. You will need to invest in all of the necessary tools for your practice, as well as furniture and other equipment needed for client meetings.

In fact, many large architectural firms cannot survive their first year due to lack of funding. It is very important to be able to finance your business before investing too much money into it.

There are several ways to fund your business, from getting loans against your personal assets to finding private investors or angel groups that can help out with capital.

It is also possible to earn income through practicing architecture, but this will depend on whether you are willing to go without pay for initial years to establish yourself as an architect.

Choose a location

Finding your ideal home is probably one of the most important things you will do as an aspiring architect. Choosing where to live is influenced by many different factors, not just personal ones like close to family or work, but financial too!

Land costs are the biggest expense when buying a house. A lot of people don’t realize this until they look into it, so make sure you have enough money saved up for a down payment before looking at expensive homes.

Another big cost that isn’t typically included in land prices is taxes. Even if you aren’t living in the house full time, you still need to pay tax on it. Make sure to factor this in when deciding which houses to check out.

Having a good income can help mitigate the high costs of real estate, but even if you are struggling financially now, don’t give up hope completely. There are ways to find cheaper properties to buy, and then renovate later.

Get federal and state tax IDs

As your business grows, so does the amount of paperwork you have to manage. This is not only time consuming, but can get expensive as well.

Mostly due to the diversity in businesses, there are no standard regulations when it comes to identifying yourself as an individual or professional organization.

Business owners must also check their records in all 50 states and at both the national and regional level.

This includes verifying social security numbers, proof of residency, license and registration documents, and more!

Having these identification pieces can help protect you from fraud, keep you legal under the law, and ensure that nobody gets hurt because of you.

It’s important to stay organized! To save money by avoiding fees, be sure to organize your documents chronologically and include additional copies. That way, your self-checkout machine will go through them quickly and correctly.

By establishing this connection early on, people will know that you are serious about your business and money, which will help your business in the long run.
