When someone talks about spatial design, they can be referring to something very specific or it may refer more broadly to how designers organize information in their designs. This organization is typically referred to as “theme” or “style.” Both of these terms are used frequently when people talk about spatial design.
Concerning the first part of this term — space — there are two main types depending on if you are talking about interior or exterior spaces. If you are talking about internal spaces like rooms or offices, then one type of spatial design is using strong colors that match and contrast with each other. For example, white walls, black furniture, and bright reds and oranges are all ways to use color for emphasis in an office setting.
The second way to emphasize space within an office or room is through large openings or skylights. A common example of this is a large picture window where you see lots of natural light coming into the area. Or, if there is no direct sunlight, you can put in artificial light which makes the space feel brighter. Either way, your recipients get a sense of openness from the space and can relax in the environment.
If you are talking about outdoor areas, such as balconies or patios, then one way to add some additional flavor to the space is by introducing plants. Not only do plants help clean the air, but they also give a feeling of serenity and tranquility.

A spatial designer is someone who designs spaces, or layouts, in three dimensions – height, width, and depth. Spaces that are surrounded by walls are typically considered as having length and breadth, but what about height?
People usually consider buildings to have a floor and a ceiling, but how about vertical space between those two points? This vertical space is referred to as “height” or “depth.”
In this article, we will talk more about spatial designing and some of the types of spatial designers. But first, let us look at some examples!
Examples of spatial design
Below you will see several pictures of different rooms with their corresponding heights. Check out all of these!
Picture 1: Living room
This picture shows off a great example of depth in interior design. You can tell there was an intent for depth here, as the furniture took up most of it. It also had lots of features such as couches, pillows, and decorations.
The other way to create depth in interior design is to use heavy materials. For instance, the wall behind the couch is painted solid white, which makes the wall stand out more and creates more depth.
Making sure your house has enough depth is important because people tend to associate greater depth with stability and confidence.
It also helps make the space feel bigger than it Award-Winning is, creating an illusion of size.
In visual design, color, shape, and position are some of the main components used to achieve overall aesthetic appeal. Color is very powerful; it can influence people’s emotions and psychology positively.
As we know, colors have mood associations. For example, red is usually considered strong and bold, while green is calm and soothing. Therefore, using these colors for your company logo or brand name can convey an emotional message about your business.
The shape is another fundamental element in designing anything new whether it be clothes, cars, or logos. The term “shape” refers to how something is structured. A circle, square, triangle, and so forth all qualify as shapes.
The position is also important because it defines where a given object goes about other things. For instance, if you wanted to create a perception that something was longer, you would put it alongside another thing that made it look shorter. The position also implies strength or importance, depending on what context it belongs to!
When combining all three elements, spatial concepts apply! These refer to patterns like lines, angles, and relationships between objects. Using these principles when designing creates designs that are unique and special.

Another way to use product placement in your design is as interactive features or components. This is when part of the setting is filled with products that serve an integral function within the scene or narrative of the movie. For example, if the film was set during World War II then there can be several examples of this. A restaurant might feature military-themed decorations and tablescape designs, bottles and cans of food and watermark for donation, etc.
This concept can easily translate into real-life applications as well. If you are reading this article then there’s a good chance that you enjoy watching movies. Therefore, every time someone mentions a company name or brand, you should consider whether they would exist without the other companies’ involvement in their story!
For instance, say you read an article about how Starbucks made a conscious decision to put plastic straws in some beverages because it is more environmentally friendly than using paper ones. You could argue that their inclusion helped promote the sale of plastic drink containers by creating additional exposure for them. Or maybe it influenced people to buy drinks without straws since it is another disposable item. Either way, the manufacturer benefited from the influence of the brand.
Interactive product placement can also occur when companies position themselves or their brands in settings where their logos, slogans, or colors resonate.

Recent developments in design are referred to as spatial or place-based designs. This is due to their emphasis on where objects sit about one another and how they relate to the space around them.
Spatial trends come and go, but several features seem to stick around for a while.
One of these is the use of natural materials such as wood, leather, stone, and clay. These textures and shapes convey weight and importance. Another trend is minimalism — going back to nature, natural spaces, and less decoration.
Minimalist styles were popular during the 1970s and 1980s with examples like the geometric lines of modern furniture. Furniture made today can be considered minimalist because it keeps decorations to a minimum.
Overall shape and geometry play an important part in spatial designs. Natural environments have strong geometry so using this concept in your style is a good way to start designing with spatial concepts.

One of the most important parts of spatial design is using an appropriate level of detail (LOD) in your designs. A LOD element can be anything from an individual line to a full picture or texture. It all depends on how much information you want to include in the viewer.
A common example of this would be the way video games use textures, models, and pictures to give more depth to the environment. In video games, it’s very possible to have a seamless transition between areas, but still, requires enough latency for players to recognize that there are different environments.
This is similar to what makes VR so immersive! If someone were to put on a headset right now and enter a virtual world, they wouldn’t know where things ended and started because everything would look and feel natural and cohesive.
