THIS IS Why Artists Use Instagram

Instagram has become a common platform for artist and creator alike. In general, the Instagram community is a good example of a community that is more relaxed.

That's not to say that they're not passionate about their work, but the community seems to be less often associated with that passion.

Sometimes there are things that are taken more seriously than they really are.

What do artists use Instagram for?

Instagram is no longer just a photo-sharing platform.

It has developed into a social media hub for artists. Instagram can be used to spread one's work with followers.

When you upload images you are broadcasting them into the world for the masses.

How many people are that number, though? Sometimes artists use Instagram for two purposes but generally use it for one thing.

Use it for marketing your own work

Most artists who create art for a living use Instagram.

A large number of them don't even consider Instagram a "social media platform" because they do not have any of their followers follow them to their own accounts.

Instead, they see it as a tool to push out content for their own art.

It's a good way to get people's attention when they might not have been looking for your art on Instagram.

Add social media to your work

Hours of happiness

While most artists that are big-time use Instagram for social media, a small percentage add their work onto their Instagram as if it were another piece of art on their profile page.

For example, an artist can add photos to their Facebook account to help show people what they are about.

Once someone starts looking at the work, they might decide to follow you on Facebook as well.

By doing this you're making sure they see every other piece of art you've created, all while allowing them to see more of your work and connect with you.

Don't use it for everything

Using Instagram to promote yourself isn't right for everyone.

If you are an indie artist, you have to work hard for the people you work with. You can't just post a gallery of your artwork and expect everyone to buy it.

There are a lot of artists that do this just to meet numbers and get more followers. You have to do what works best for you.

Explore your interest on Instagram

If you're looking for a creative outlet, then Instagram is a good place to start.

You can work on creating art, use it as a method to communicate with others and even use it to brainstorm new ideas. Use it the way that makes the most sense for you.

If you're artistic and need something to do, give Instagram a try and see where it takes you.

Focusing on the right things

One thing that you should be careful with when using Instagram is how you use it.

If you are doing the opposite of how you want to be perceived, your social media presence might not be in your best interest.

Be sure to listen to what others say about your work and how it's marketed.

While you don't want to be associated with a lot of negative comments, you do want to make sure that people are viewing your work for what it is, not just for the numbers it may bring in.

These are just a few of the many things that you should consider when using Instagram.

There are lots of different ways that people use it and they can mean many different things for artists and businesses.

Just make sure that you are focusing on the positive when using the platform.

A lot of people in the art world are using Instagram to market themselves, but Instagram isn’t just for that.

It’s a very good place to find free stock images, to find connections, and to make art.

Use it to Connect With Your Audience

When you use Instagram, you’re connecting with people who also use Instagram.

Think about it: if you want to connect with someone, what are the first things you do?

You ask questions, you start conversations, and you respond to their comments.

By engaging with your audience, you’re creating an online community.
This community is what you should be building on Instagram.

Once you’re on Instagram, it’s worth creating a few follow lists.

Be Authentic and Communicate

It takes a certain kind of person to create a business on Instagram.

But it’s a business.

You’re spending money and time in order to promote your art.

When you do this, you have to be authentic.

Once you begin to work on a business, there’s no going back. This is not a hobby. This is a way of earning money.

Being authentic doesn’t mean you have to follow every single hashtag and name.

Have a Project You Are Committed To

One of the main things I see on the IG is people like Casey Neistat, Benny Scales, Casey Calvert, and Ishaan Sethi.

These guys are committed to one thing: Instagram.

It’s not that they don’t make art. I know a few artists who share their photos. But the difference is that they aren’t holding themselves back.

Benny Scales is an amazing illustrator. He’s probably best known for his projects: animating little people, singing, and doing live hand drawings.

Post Content That People Will Love

The fact that you don’t have thousands of followers yet is no excuse to post boring, uninspiring content.

So what do people want to see on Instagram?

Anything interesting.
