Art schools are incredibly expensive, and especially when you first enter. It is the most expensive college you will ever attend. Art school is actually very expensive because the higher you go in your education and the more you want to know, the more it costs.

Like, if you know that you want to become a photographer, you will be well into your thirties before you can afford to shoot your first professional photo.

You may never do it, you may have some job working in a cubicle or be one of those people that loves the city life but hates the struggles of owning a home.

When you are a young person entering art school, you are not all there. You may not have all of your brain cells. You may be going to school to get away from a life that you don't want. Maybe your parents were so strict that you feel like you need a break from your parents. Maybe you were simply broke.

Anytime you take a break, you start to forget who you were as a kid, who you are now, and even who you want to be in the future. Don't believe me? Take a mental break by going to college or school. You won't regret it.

Of course you will regret going to school and working to pay for it but it will be worth it when you graduate. After you graduate you will have a life long skill.

You can either choose to be in the trades or you can continue working at your job. If you become a photographer you can make more than your parents made in their whole life.

After you take a break from school, if you are at least 30, you will be like 50 when you go back to school and will be able to be prepared and learn for the profession that you want.

In some states like Colorado, if you are under 30, you can take out a loan for college and repay it when you start your career and if you do it correctly, you will make more than what you make at your job.

What is the best way to go to art school?

Every art school has its benefits and negatives. At MICA, we have many professionals in our faculty that are master's level trained. They teach us so that we can get better at our jobs and be prepared for any career or just want to learn more.

However, many art schools are very top-heavy and the money is not going to the students but to the school.

If you are seeking to go to an art school for a long time, go to one that has more tuition to pay and it is cheaper for the student to go to a school. We have three curriculums: accredited pre-professional, accredited general education, and graduate.

Depending on your goals, you might want to go to all three.

For those who want to go to art school for a short time, there are not many options. Many art schools do not have student to teacher ratios and you may be lucky enough to have two to one. The one we have is one to one.

In other schools the ratio is one to one to three, which makes it hard to learn. You would have to be a good student and to be in a small classroom like at MICA.

The first time I went to MICA, I was attracted to it because it is in Baltimore City, it is a private school, and it is a state university. The school is ranked #1 in the country and we have very high standards.

We have a lot of information about every student including their major, the college their coming from, the exact degree that they want, why they want it, and what they are interested in.

We send our students to the best art festivals and exhibitions in the world and we give you the opportunity to gain an experience in the industry.

Getting accepted into MICA is a tough process but we make it fun. You have to do well in your high school portfolio and then send us your resume.

When the scholarships open up, we accept over 100 students a year and our own scholarships fund 55% of the enrollment.

How do I finance art school?

Take out loans. Most art schools will have loans available and it might be hard to find a school that does not. It is a good idea to take out a few large loans because it helps you not be strapped financially and you will have enough money to survive.

Most colleges have the option to help you stay on campus. The school will put up a money for your tuition.

Why do I need to go to school to be an artist?

I think everybody that is an artist is an artist by nature. Art is something that you have inside you and when you go to school you are able to hone it and put it on paper.

In art school you can come to understand what it is that you want to do and also, when you are out of school, you will be able to have a career based on what you have learned. If you can get a job you will still be able to do what you love and put it to work.
