This article will discuss why instagram is good for artists and will then compare Instagram to the other social media platforms out there.
My decision to post my music videos to instagram was the smartest thing I ever did. Instantly, my following grew tenfold (I can barely remember my name without it!), and my reach is dramatically higher than I’d ever had with my record label. As I keep looking at other artists’ instagram, I see why. Instagram provides a necessary outlet for self-expression.
When I’m stuck in the studio, I’ll post to Instagram and instantly get a reaction from my followers. It keeps me motivated. It has become a great way to connect with people and build relationships. I don’t know if it’s good for society at large or not, but Instagram is great for the average artist.
The following are some tips for taking advantage of the potential of Instagram for your music.

Don’t just post the music video and leave it at that!
You are creating a story with your work, so be sure to share your stories with your audience. I share stories about making music, going to the grocery store, and other random things that I have no interest in sharing with my professional circle of music-industry friends.
I get notifications about 20 times a day when someone posts a comment on one of my posts.
By posting new content consistently, you’ll encourage interaction from your followers, which is helpful for gaining new followers.
You can engage with your audience by asking questions, sharing your thoughts, and leaving comments of encouragement. I enjoy reading positive comments from my audience because I know that they are a sign of appreciation.

To start, instagram is the most efficient way for a new artist to create buzz, generate curiosity, and attain a following. It’s instantaneous and it’s immediate.
This means that the value is directly related to your interest, and the frequency you use it. For example, if you had 100 followers on instagram, your engagement rate is 1/100th of what it would be on Twitter.
This is because Twitter and Instagram are both platforms where a small percentage of the world are active, and are used to consume content.
However, it’s difficult to tell what you’re creating a buzz for simply by your followers on one or the other.
You’ll see a lot of people using Facebook and Youtube, but that’s not quite the same.
The point is that there’s nothing inherently viral about either platform.

This is where social media takes the lead. Instagram has changed the game because it has no barriers to entry.
You just need an account, an idea, and a product or a skill to post about.
What’s great about the visual nature of Instagram is that it can seamlessly blend into your existing brand.
Your Instagram profile can easily be used to promote your blog, podcast, YouTube channel, or your art.
This is a strategy that’s almost impossible to do with SoundCloud and Youtube, as it’s not as visual.
Soundcloud and YouTube require you to develop individual accounts for every project that you’re working on.
For an artist, it’s cheaper and faster to reach an audience, even with a limited budget, on instagram. It’s one of the fastest ways to build brand awareness. Instagram has become synonymous with social media. Artists these days can’t avoid it.
Where Instagram really comes into its own is in its use within the arts world.
This is a very, very competitive field. Having something that is known to be easy to use, monetized, and not complicated is the key to making Instagram a success in this market.
The other benefit of Instagram is that the bulk of the competition is still playing around and not in a position to compete with you yet.
This is the perfect time to make a good impression, increase your brand recognition, and start advertising to attract people to your profile.
The way you can do this is by making a good Instagram profile. Don’t just try to use it because you “have to”, or just make one with a half-assed photography business. This is the first impression that people will get of you. Your image will help define you, even if you don’t intend it to. Make a great Instagram profile, and they will keep coming back for more.

My name is Benny Doerr and I’m an artist from Los Angeles. I use Instagram to market my work, to distribute samples of my work, to showcase the work of other artists, and to collect insights into the work of other artists.
I like the platform for a lot of reasons. It’s quick, simple, easy to use, and free for artists. This makes it easy for artists like me to grow a following and brand, even if they don’t have a lot of artistic skill, as I don’t either.
